Dr. William Green Sandifer, Jr., of York, SC, passed away peacefully at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill, SC, on January 8, 2025.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on January 13, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church of York, with Pastor Nick Setzer officiating. The family will receive friends in the Ladies' Parlor following the memorial service.
Bill was born on September 23, 1938, in Rock Hill, South Carolina. He was the son of the late William Green Sandifer, Sr. and Pearle Hayes Sandifer. He was a 1956 graduate of York High School, a 1960 graduate of Wofford College and a 1963 graduate of The Medical College of Virginia, School of Dentistry. He was a dedicated dentist in York, South Carolina for 48 years (1963-2011). He loved his job and he loved his patients. He was also a lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church of York South Carolina. He served as a deacon, elder, clerk of session and chaired many committees. He loved his church and was devoted to serving others. He served on the York School District school board for over ten years and served as chairman for many of those years. He loved his family and enjoyed playing golf, fishing, reading, traveling and going to the beach.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years; Patsy Simpson Sandifer; his son, Billy Sandifer (Sherry); his two daughters, Susan Lee Ballard (Dain) and Patti Earle (Kent); and his seven grandchildren: Macie Runge (Paul), Catherine Neal Otto (Jordan), Callie Sandifer, Will Sandifer, Daley Ballard (Katharine), Mattie Blackwell (Tripp), and Hannah Adams (Justin). He was also blessed with eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents Bill was preceded in death by his three sisters: Elizabeth Ann Inman, Jane Brown, and Sister Johnson (his twin).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 10 W Liberty St, York, SC 29745.
