William Schaffer Obituary

William “Bill” Schaffer, 75, passed away in his home in Post Falls, Idaho on February 4, 2026, after a long hard-fought battle with cancer. Bill was born on June 26,1950 , the son of William and Donna Schaffer (Russell).

He graduated from Kellogg High School in 1968 and enlisted into the United States Navy where he spent his next 4 years serving his country both home and abroad during the Vietnam War. It was during this time where he gained his nickname “Shorty”.

When He wasn’t busy tinkering on something in the garage or working on home improvement projects, Dad could be found taking long walks, relaxing with one of his beloved cats, watching an old rerun or strumming on his guitar. He enjoyed hikes on Tubbs hill where he connected with his family, God and nature. He had a passion for cars which has carried down through generations. Dad immersed himself in God’s word and was faithful in telling others about Jesus’ love for them.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, William and Donna Schaffer and sisters Vicki Spoor and Gloria Venters. He is survived by his wife of 13 years Ruth Christie Tipton-Schaffer, sister Terry Seymore (Jon), children Robbie Schaffer(Brandi), Jennifer Sorensen(JP), Melina Reid(Darby), Clarissa Moon(Tim), step-children Kierstyn Gover, CJ Glover(Neana), 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls, Idaho on Wednesday, February 18th at 11am.
