With sadness, we announce that William Cameron Schetter, 91, of Highlands Ranch, CO, passed away peacefully on August 15th.
Bill was born in Salinas, CA, son of William and Louise Schetter on April 25, 1933. After attending Glendale (CA) Community College, Bill served in the U.S. Army as a chaplain’s assistant from 1956-1958 at Fort Huachuca, AZ.
Bill graduated from the University of California-Berkeley with a bachelor’s degree in Geology in 1959, and from the University of Oregon with a master’s degree in Science in 1962. During his career, Bill worked as a geologist for ExxonMobil for over 30 years, including a one-year teaching stint at De Anza College. Bill was active in volunteer work for the Urban League, the United Way, the Boy Scouts, and other activities at his church.
Bill’s hobbies included skiing, fly fishing, hiking, camping, geology field trips, genealogy and serving on various committees.
Bill is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carole; sons William Jr. and Bruce; daughter Ann (Daryle); and five grandchildren.
Services will be at Wellshire Presbyterian Church, 2999 South Colorado Blvd, Denver, CO 80222, on September 13th at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in memory of William Schetter.
