William Schools Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Welch Funeral Home - Marks Chapel on Nov. 30, 2025.
William Franklin Schools, Sr., 76, of Warsaw, passed away suddenly on Friday, November 28, 2025. Known as Frankie to those closest to him, he was born in Dunnsville, Virginia, to the late Boyd "Benjamin" Schools and the late Alice "Grace" Martin Schools. Frank was the loving husband of 45 years to Cynthia Scott Schools. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and later a carpenter and farmer.

In his younger days, Frank was very athletic, running track and playing football in high school. His capable hands and athleticism served him well during his Air Force service. While stationed in Charleston as an aircraft mechanic, he specialized in fuel systems. His time in the service was rewarding, but even more rewarding was coming home and settling down.

Frankie was a master carpenter who could do just about any job and took tremendous pride in his work. He built the home where he and Cindy raised their boys, spending time in the shop near the woodstove, tinkering about and cutting grass. He loved the land, and farming was one of his favorite things-second only to working with wood. His hands were always busy, but never too busy to stop and help his boys with whatever needed to be done.

Left to cherish Frankie's memory are his beloved wife, Cindy; his sons: Will Schools (Jen), Ben Schools (Ashley), and Jesse Schools (Laura), all of Warsaw; and his cherished grandchildren: McKenzie, Wren, Pierson, Knox, and Hayes-who brought him endless joy. Frankie is also survived by his beloved friend and companion, his dog LuLu; a sister, Sarah Ann Davis; a daughter, Becky Bussey; granddaughters, Lydia Shelton and Haleigh Bussey; along with several nieces and nephews.

Frankie was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Grace, and his siblings, B. Boyd Schools, Roger Lee Schools, and Imogene Berryman.

A memorial service to celebrate Frankie's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Menokin Baptist Church, with the Reverend Dr. Jason Patrick officiating. Following the service, Frankie will be laid to rest in the church cemetery. His family will visit with friends at a reception immediately after the burial.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Frank's loving memory to the Menokin Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1135, Warsaw, VA 22572.
