Rodman S. Schools
December 16, 1933 – October 4, 2025
Rodman S. Schools, of Poughkeepsie, New York, entered peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 4, 2025.
Born on December 16, 1933, in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Rodman graduated through the ROTC program as a First Lieutenant and served honorably in the United States Army Reserve. He was married for 71 years to his beloved wife, Sandra, who faithfully stood by his side through every season of life.
Rodman spent most of his professional career with IBM in Poughkeepsie, where he worked on pioneering holographic projects and later as a dedicated engineer. A man of wide-ranging intellect and deep curiosity, he had a lifelong passion for history-especially World War II-authoring several published magazine articles and a book on composer John Philip Sousa.
Above all, Rodman was a devoted student of Scripture and a longtime member of Grace Bible Church in Wappingers Falls, New York. He read his Bible daily and found his greatest joy in his faith and his family. His final words were prayers for those he loved and expressions of pride in each of them.
Rodman is survived by his wife, Sandra; his son, David R. Schools, his wife Eileen and his daughter, Marcia Carter and husband Gary. He is also lovingly remembered by seven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
His legacy of faith, wisdom, and devotion will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know him.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Bible Church in Wappingers Falls, NY, and/or Hudson Valley Hospice in his memory.
Services will be held at 1pm on Friday, October 10, 2025 at Grace Bible Church, 158 Myeres Corner Rd, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590, with the burial to follow at Poughkepsie Rural Cemetery. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Rodman Schools, please visit our floral store.
