William Grady Shaw, 74, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2026. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Rooks Funeral Home, 213 West Church Street in Fort Valley. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Chamlee Baptist Church, 1502 Knoxville Street in Fort Valley, followed by burial in Oaklawn Cemetery. Rev. Seth DeFoor and Tim Wilson will officiate.
Born in Conyers to the late Leon and Daisy Thompson Shaw, Grady grew up farming with his family in Rockdale County. They moved to Crawford County where he spent the rest of his days living, raising his family, and farming. He served on the ASC Board of Peach County Agricultural Department and Crawford County Farm Bureau, and named winner of the the Soil and Conservationist Award. He was a member of Chamlee Baptist Church and Fort Valley Lions Club, and an avid Georgia Bulldawgs and Atlanta Braves fan. Grady never met a stranger and will be remembered for his ability to talk with anyone and make them his friend.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 35 years, Helen Shaw; their children, William "Billy" Shaw (Cari), Timmy Shaw, Nancy Shaw (James Davis), Daryl Benz, and Jason Benz; grandchildren, William Alexander "Alex" Shaw, Christopher Shaw, Emma Shaw, Ashley Hamlin (Adam), Chad Conlee, Haylee Benz, Jake Benz (Brittany), and Siearra Benz (Randall Cameron); great grandchildren, Anthony, Kimbrell, Kolton, Mary Kate, Bryson, Colton, Ryder, and Knolan; one brother and five sisters; numerous nieces, nephews, many more family members and a multitude of friends.
Family may be contacted at the residence. Rooks Funeral Home in Fort Valley is in charge of arrangements.
