William Herbert Shaw, MD, a devoted physician, respected medical leader, and beloved family man, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by love.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised on Miami Beach, Dr. Shaw dedicated more than five decades to the practice of urology, earning the respect and admiration of patients, colleagues, and generations of physicians he mentored. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida and his medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine. He completed his training in New York and Miami and was board certified by the American Board of Urology.

A distinguished leader in South Florida medicine, Dr. Shaw served as Chief of Urology at Mount Sinai Medical Center, Saint Francis Hospital, and the Miami Heart Institute. He also held senior attending and emeritus positions and was a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where he played a vital role in resident education and hospital leadership. He was a proud United States Air Force veteran.

Beyond medicine, William was a man of many passions, including sports, travel, history, music, and his beloved dogs. Above all, he cherished time with family. Known as a "doctor to all," he practiced with compassion, integrity, and generosity, extending that generosity to many charitable causes.

William was married for 56 years to the love of his life, Ellen Shaw. He is survived by his daughter, Cathi Shaw-Marcus and her husband Steven Marcus; his son, Randy Shaw and ex-wife Alison Shaw; his beloved grandsons, Brody Marcus and Winston Shaw; his sister-in-law, Myrna Marcus, and extended family. He is also lovingly remembered by Daine McCallum, his devoted caregiver for nine years, whose compassion meant so much to him and his family.
