William Shay

William "Bill" Howard Shay, of Rocky Hill, CT passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 17 at the age of 77. Bill was born in Gary, Indiana to Arleen and Howard Shay. The family moved to Factoryville, PA, where his dad started a printing shop and Bill grew up farming. Upon graduating from Factoryville High, Bill decided to get a higher education. He came to Hartford, CT and attended the Hartford Institute of Accounting and then got a bachelor's degree and a master's from the University of New Haven. In 1970 he and Gail got married and shared 55 happy years. Bill was active at Memorial Baptist by being treasurer and singing in the choir. He has been on the Trustee Board since going to RH Methodist. He has volunteered with the AARP Tax Program in Rocky Hill and Wethersfield.

In addition to Gail, he also leaves his sister Peg Elliott of Missouri, and his sister-in-law Kym Shay, as well as many nieces and nephews.

On Sunday March 22 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm there will be Calling Hours at the Rose Hill Funeral Home; 580 Elm St. Rocky Hill, CT. The Funeral will be held the following day, Monday March 23 at Rocky Hill Methodist Church; 623 Old Main St. Rocky Hill, CT with a burial to follow in the Rose Hill Memorial Park. in Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to RHU Methodist or Memorial Baptist 142 Fairfield Ave. Hartford.
