William Sherwood Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 31, 2026.
William "Bill" Hubbell Sherwood Jr, 84, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, leaving behind a legacy of faith, service, and devotion to family.

Interment with military honors will be held at Pikes Peak National Cemetery in Colorado Springs, CO on Monday, April 6, 2026.

Bill was born to William Hubbell and Martha Mitchell Sherwood on February 3, 1942 in Arizona, where his early years helped shape the strength, quiet humor, and steady character that would define his life. Bill played baseball for Utah State University and earned degrees from Utah State University and University of Colorado Denver. He went on to serve his country with honor as a Major in the United States Air Force, a role he carried with quiet dignity and deep commitment. He flew C-141's for 10 years, including service in Vietnam. After his active duty, Bill worked in sales, data processing, and entrepreneurial businesses.

A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bill's life was guided by faith. He served faithfully in his church community, offering kindness, wisdom, and a listening ear to all who knew him. Bill and Kathy served missions together to Nigeria and Palmyra, NY.

Above all else, Bill was a family man. He shared a lifelong love story with his beloved wife, Kathy-the love of his life. Together, they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and enduring values. They were blessed with nine children, and Bill took immense pride in each of them, as well as in his growing posterity. He is survived by his wife Kathy, 9 children and their spouses, 45 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 2 siblings.

Bill will be remembered for his steady presence, gentle humor, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. His legacy lives on in the lives of his children, grandchildren, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to honor Bill's memory by spending time with those you love-whether that means taking your family to a warm beach or sharing a hot dog from Costco. (Two of his favorite things)

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
