Funeral services for William David Smith, age 77 of Jackson, will take place at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Bodkin Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Gibson County Memory Gardens near Milan. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday from 12:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Smith was born on April 25, 1948, to the late Glen Davis and Mary Helen King Smith in Humboldt. David grew up in Milan and graduated Milan High School. He passed away September 28, 2025, at his home. He proudly served in the United States Army in Vietnam from 1968 to 1970. He was a long-time member of local VFWs. He retired from Quaker Oats in Jackson where he worked for 39 years. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed going for drives with his dog Sedona, listening to gospel music, and watching football.

David is survived by sons, Christopher Heath Smith and wife Lori of Milan, and Davis Van Buren Smith and wife Laura of Huntingdon; step daughter, Nancy Jewell Henry and husband Edward of Oakfield, TN; several grandchildren and bonus grandchildren and many nieces and nephews; brothers, Lynn Smith, Joe Smith, Perry Smith, and Eric Smith.

Besides his parents, David is preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Ann Smith, second wife, Clara Smith, and two brothers, Terry and Paul Smith.

Memorials may be directed to any Veteran related charity of the donor's choosing.
