William Rex Smith

William Rex Smith, 73, of Claysville, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 28, 2025. Born November 25, 1951, he was a son of the late Elizabeth and Russell Smith. He was the beloved husband of 30 years to Denise Smith; loving father of Tracy (Bill) Kelley, and William (Heidi) Smith; cherished Pappy Bill of Chelsea (Mark) Richards, Kyle Heirendt, Derek Smith, Brooklynne Smith and Avery Smith; great-grandfather of Ember Richards and Meadow Richards; and dear brother of the late Sharon and Suzette. Bill proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. A familiar face behind the bar, he worked as a bartender for many years and was known for his easy smile, quick wit, and generous spirit. A lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers, Bill enjoyed cheering on his teams surrounded by friends. He especially loved spending time at the Washington VFW and American Legion, where he shared countless laughs and stories. At home, he found simple joy in feeding his hummingbirds and enjoying the quiet moments of life. Bill was loved by all who knew him and will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
