William “Chris” Smith, age 57, passed away on December 22, 2025. He was born on February 6, 1968, in Picayune, Mississippi, to the late William “Bloss” Smith and Margaret Lee Smith.
Chris was a truly kind and caring man whose life was deeply rooted in family, faith, and a love for people. The oldest of three boys, he carried himself with wisdom, patience, and an old-school country spirit. A true cowboy at heart, Chris loved the land and the life that came with it — caring for his cattle, tending to his horses, and spending time at the stockyard. He especially enjoyed rodeos, and he took pride in riding colts, doctoring yearlings, and working on tack.
Chris was outgoing, welcoming, and never met a stranger. People were naturally drawn to him, and he was always willing to listen, offer advice, or help someone through a difficult moment. His patience and gentle nature made him especially loved by children, who adored him just as much as he adored them.
Above all else, Chris was about his family. He loved them fiercely and spoke of them often with pride, sharing stories and memories that meant everything to him. His life was one of love, generosity, and genuine connection, and his legacy will live on through the many lives he touched.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
William is preceded by his parents, William “Bloss” Ray Smith and Margaret Ruth Lee Smith. Left to cherish his memories are his loving children, Samuel Todd (Jadi) Smith and Lexi Lynne Smith; brothers, Joshua (Amanda) Smith and Buckey (Tonya) Smith; grandchildren, Kinsley Smith and Kayse Smith; nieces, Miranda Smith, Ariel (Cameron) Howell; nephews, Aiden Smith, Cody McDaniel, and Bloss Smith; great nieces, Amelia Codington and Blakelyn Howell.
