William Spalding Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Boyd Funeral Home - Ashland City on Feb. 16, 2026.
William E. Spalding Jr., affectionately known as "Jute," "Mr. Will," and "Hawk," passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026, just days shy of his 73rd birthday. Born on February 24, 1953, in Lebanon, Kentucky.

In 1985, he met the love of his life, Michele Spalding. From that moment forward, their story was written together. United in marriage on April 20, 1991, they built a life rooted in loyalty, partnership, and endurance. Through every season, they stood side by side, a testament to what lasting love truly looks like.

Survived by children; Matt Jackson (Darnita Jackson), Tarika Carter, Chantelle Owens (Antonio Owens), and Tamarra McElroy (Justin McElroy).

He was the deeply devoted grandfather of Zeke Smith, Charlie Jackson, Jayla Kyles, Laila Smith, Max Smith, Joslyn Jackson, and Addison McElroy. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William E. Spalding Sr. and Mary Belle Spalding; his sister, Georgia Carroll; and his brother, James Spalding.

He leaves to cherish his memory of his loving sisters, Tina Ford and Angie Knott; his brothers, John Ike Spalding and Joe Spalding; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and lifelong friends who were blessed to know him.

In accordance with his wishes, William will be cremated, and no formal services will be held. In honor of his life, the family encourages those who loved him to plant a flower or a bush in his memory, something living and strong, something that continues to grow. It is a simple but beautiful tribute, fitting for a man who lived life on his own terms.

Well done, Jute. Well done, Mr. Will. Fly high, Hawk.

You were deeply loved, and you will forever be remembered
