William Arden Sponaugle

William Arden Sponaugle, 82 of Weirton, WV passed away Friday, March 18, 2016 in The Laurels of Steubenville in Steubenville, OH. Born September 30, 1933 in Auburn, WV, he was a son of the late Arden and Eva (Adams) Sponaugle. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Homer, Duwane and Carlos Sponaugle. William was pipefitter and retired from Weirton Steel after 38 years of service. He served in the United States Army. He attended Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church in Weirton, WV. William enjoyed his retirement years by spending time with his family, which he treasured very much. He is survived by his wife Shirley Sponaugle; sons William (Linda) Sponaugle, Jr. of Troy, WV, Stephen (Pamela) Boyd Sponaugle of Weirton; daughter Martha Ann (Mike) Whicker of King, NC; sisters Orlena (Harvy) Roderick of Missouri, Evaline Lowther of Troy, WV; 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. In honoring William's wishes, there will be no visitation and private funeral services will be held at the discretion of the family.
