William Julian Stephens

William Julian Stephens, age 93 of Whitesburg, Georgia passed away Saturday, January 10, 2026. William was born December 28, 1932 to the late Garnett and Bertha (Sampson) Stephens in Young Harris, Georgia. He loved to hunt, fish, watch westerns and bird watch but most of all loved to just sit and watch his grandchildren play. He had a great sense of humor and his favorite saying that his children said suited him well was “slow but sure”.

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sharon Speed; sons, Bill Stephens, Darrell Stephens; brothers, Walter Stephens, Cecil Stephens; grandson, Jackson Lammey. He is survived by his son, David (Cam) Stephens; daughter in law, Stephanie Stephens; grandchildren, John Stephens, Jason Speed, Kelley Lammey, Mark Speed, Jesse Kannigiser; great-grandchildren, Lee Stephens, Elizabeth Speed, Caroline Speed, Jake Speed, Elijah Lammey, Gabe Lammey, Macie Lammey, Jeremiah Lammey, Isaac Lammey, Lillie Lammey, Chase Speed, CJ Speed, Max Speed; several nieces, nephews and extended family.

Visitation: Tuesday, January 13, 2026 from 11:00-1:00 at Banister-Cooper Funeral Home.

Funeral: Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at 1:00pm at Banister-Cooper Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Nicholson officiating.

Pallbearers: John Stephens, Mark Speed, Jason Speed, Wes Lammey, Jake Speed, CJ Speed
