In Loving Memory of William (Bill) Walter Stephens Jr.

October 3, 1944 - February 6, 2026

It is with heartfelt sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of William (Bill) Walter Stephens Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, who left us while surrounded by his loving family at his home in Raleigh on the evening of Friday, February 6th, 2026.

Bill is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Nancy Paul Stephens, and their cherished children: son Tres Stephens and his wife, Gwen; son Todd Stephens and his wife, Carole; and daughter Jessica Stephens Franks. His legacy continues through his adored grandchildren, Trace, Tyler, Sadie (and her son Sterling), Brittney (and her son Dominic), Will, Brooke, Claire, Chase, and Olivia.

He was a brother to Susie Stallings, Cookie Davis, and Freddy Stephens. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Jimmy Stephens and David Stephens.

Born on October 3, 1944, Bill was a true native of North Carolina and remained a dedicated member of his community through his involvement with the Elks Lodge. He was a passionate animal lover, a trait that he shared generously with all those around him. Bill's leisure time was often filled with the sounds of beach music, and he was a fervent fan of the N.C. State Wolfpack. His career in sales at Circle Supply was marked by the respect and camaraderie of his colleagues and customers alike, leading to a well-deserved retirement.

A traditional service to honor Bill's life has yet to be arranged and will be announced at a later date.

In remembrance of Bill's love for animals, the family suggests that contributions be made to the Wake County SPCA as an expression of sympathy in lieu of flowers.

Bill Stephens Jr. will be greatly missed, yet his warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit will be forever remembered by those who knew and loved him.

"We will miss you dearly, your love and kindness will remain in our hearts forever."

Please share a memory or condolence for the family in Bill's guest book below.

Montlawn Funeral Home, Cremations & Memorial Park is honored to serve the Stephens family.
