William Stephenson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Osborn Funeral Home - Shreveport on Jan. 8, 2026.
William Lane Stephenson IV, a devoted husband, proud father, and cherished son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 46 years old.

Born January 17, 1979, Lane was a lifelong resident of Shreveport, Louisiana. He attended Southfield School, First Baptist Church School, and graduated from Loyola College Prep in 1997. Lane continued his education at Louisiana State University of Shreveport before joining his father and grandfather at Stephenson Floor Covering, where he began his career in the family business. It was there that Lane developed his vast knowledge of all things floor covering. Though various opportunities and occupations took him across the country, Lane ultimately returned to the industry he loved, fulfilling his dream job as a salesman for the Adleta Corporation. He took great pride in his work and valued the friendships he built with customers and colleagues.

Lane was a man of many passions. He garnered his love for hunting from his dad and his love for golf from his grandfather. An avid outdoorsman, he embraced the challenge of deer and duck hunting, with waterfowl being his true love. He found joy not only in the pursuit but in cultivating the land and creating memorable experiences for his friends. Golf was another source of peace and camaraderie for Lane, whether on the course with friends or practicing his swing.

In July of 2014, Lane married the love of his life, Jessica Gregory. On his birthday in 2017, he proudly announced that he was going to be a daddy-and a few months later, he was even more excited to learn that his namesake would be carried on, just as his grandfather, Bill, had predicted years before. William Lane Stephenson V was his pride and joy. Lane's greatest legacy is the family he treasured above all else.

Lane is survived by his beloved wife, Jessica Gregory Stephenson, and his cherished son, William Lane Stephenson V. He also leaves behind his parents, William Lane and Sally Stephenson III; his sister, Rane Stephenson Butler, and her husband, Bill; and his nephew and niece, Landry and Katherine Lallier. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William Lane and Freda Stephenson Jr., and his maternal grandparents, Malvin and Frances Barnett.

Visitation will be held at Osborn Funeral Home on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 5:30–7:00 p.m. A service to celebrate Lane's life will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Osborn Funeral Home. The family welcomes all who knew and loved Lane to join them in honoring a truly good man whose warmth, laughter, and generosity will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center Medical Center.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at MD Anderson Cancer Center Medical Center and Harbor Hospice House of Houston for their compassionate care.

Mr. and Mrs. Stephenson, Rane, and family,

I went to Southfield with Lane. We both made the switch to First Baptist along with Tracy Toups. I remember my mom, Beverly Beckett (she passed from cancer in 24), speaking on the phone with Mrs. Sally frequently. Lane was always the class clown and continually made everyone laugh. I am sorry for your loss. I will be praying for the family, especially for Lane´s wife and son.

My deepest condolences,

Jennifer Whittington
