William "Bill" Stofer of Plymouth passed away September 19, 2025 at the age of 84. He was born September 22, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan to Frank and Ursula Stofer. Beloved husband of Carol for 55 years. Loving father of Deborah (Alan) Johnson. Dearest grandfather of Jeremy Johnson (Caroline Croom). Dear brother-in-law of Patricia (Brent) Jacobsen. Bill was also survived by many nieces and one nephew. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law Lottie (Dennis) Engelhart and brother-in-law Robert R Pietruk.

Bill was a graduate of Southfield High School. He began working with his Dad as an auto mechanic. He spent a lot of time either under the hood of a 55 Chevy, that he would race on weekends, or cruising in his 57 Chevy convertible. Bill later worked as a precision machinist at various tool and die shops until joining GM. While at GM he helped create a Tool Room of the Future and later worked as a Process Engineer before retiring. A perfectionist with an eye for detail, Bill took pride in his many home improvement and other projects. He and his wife, Carol, enjoyed spending time in Northern Michigan, but most of all he loved watching football and baseball on tv, especially the Lions, Tigers and Michigan games.

Bill was quietly observant, cooperative, determined, understanding and always there when he was needed most. He was a kind, gentle and loving Son, Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Brother-In-Law, Uncle & Friend to those he loved and who will miss him beyond words.
