Murrells, South Carolina - William P. Sullivan, age 89, of Murrells Inlet, passed away March 15, 2022 at his residence. Bill was born March 11, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan, a son of the late Jefferson & Thelma Sullivan. Growing up in Hazel Park, Michigan, Bill was a graduate of Hazel Park High School, Class of 1951. Upon graduation, he attended Detroit Bible College and went to work for the post office briefly before joining the Army and being stationed in Italy during the Korean conflict. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army, Bill went back to work for the post office and worked there from 1941-1992, retiring after 41 years of dedicated service. On April 14, 1973, Bill married the love of his life, the former Rebecca Church at Addison Oaks in Oxford, Michigan. They enjoyed their life together until they decided to retire to Murrells Inlet in July of 1997. Bill was a faithful Christian and served the Lord with his church family at Forestbrook Baptist Church. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene Sullivan of Ohio, and Gerald Sullivan, of Texas. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Rebecca Sullivan; son, Philip Sullivan (Tahania), of Lansing, Michigan; daughters, Patricia Sullivan and Cynthia Franquist (Jeff), of Great Falls, Virginia; grandchildren, Leah, William, Sara, Amanda, and Andrew; and one great-grandchild, Liam and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Forestbrook Baptist Church, 2051 Forestbrook Road, Myrtle Beach, SC 29588. Funeral Service will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Forestbrook Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm – 8:00pm, Friday, March 25, 2022 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel. Additional services and burial will take place in Troy, Michigan and will be announced by A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Directors, Price Chapel.
