William Swor Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McKee Funeral Home of Baker on Dec. 2, 2025.
William Ramsey Swor, 71, of Lost City, WV, went home to be with the Lord on November 17, 2025, at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA, after a short illness.

Bill was born in Montgomery, WV on February 4, 1954. He grew up in Montgomery and graduated from Montgomery High School in 1972. He attended WV Tech for a couple of years. Bill cherished the memories of growing up in Montgomery on the Kanawha River.

Bill's first job was at Brown Chevrolet. He moved to Virginia and worked in a restaurant, where he met his wife, Patricia. They were married for 40 years until her passing in 2021. They lived in Stafford VA for those 40 years. He loved his family and was thankful for the many years that he and Patricia and Jeff shared together. Bill and Patricia both worked in the automobile industry for about 40 years. He retired from Sheehy Nissan in Alexandria, VA, 4 years ago.

Bill had many interests. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, scuba diving, and boating. He loved his cabin in Hardy County, WV. He was an accomplished guitar player. He took lessons as a teen and played guitar all his life. For several years, he and his friends had a band. He loved the many times he and his friends got together to play music.

Bill was a kind and caring person who loved his family, friends, and co-workers. He was thankful for his friends and neighbors in Hardy County who were so good to him.

Bill was raised in church and felt he had strayed away. He asked God to save him about a month before he died.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Patricia; his parents, Leland and Irene Swor; his sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Fred Romine; and his nephew, Ben Romine. He is survived by his stepson, Jeff Bennett; his brother Lee and Anita Swor and their family; his sister-in-law, Cheryl and Jerry Roberts and their family; his niece and nephew, Lindsey and Andy and their families; his dog CoCo and many friends and co-workers.

Bill's desire was to be cremated and have no burial service. Arrangements were handled by McKee Funeral Home, Baker, WV.

I met Bill 25 years ago when I was a customer at Sheehy Nissan of Manassas. 3 years later with Bill's influence along with others, I became part of the Sheehy organization and ultimately an advisor. Bill taught me a lot and to this day, I use the knowledge , wisdom and values he taught and bestowed on me. Over the years, we formed a close bond. Especially when in came to music. Over time, I had the honor of singing/performing with Bill's band. His guitar skills were amazing! His quirky sense of humor always kept not only myself but the rest of the staff laughing on a constant basis. We laughed with him! When his late wife Patricia passed away a few years back, we were all there for him at her funeral. Bill earned and deserved every ounce of respect, We kept in touch after he retired and my only regret was that we didn't get to see each other again.

His death was sudden and shocking to say the least. To quote and paraphrase the term/song. " If There's a Rock and Roll Heaven" Bill Swor and his guitars have joined that he!! of band, Rest easy my friend. You will never be forgotten.
