William Jovone "Bam" Tatum

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of William Javon Tatum, affectionately known as "Bam," who departed this life on Friday, October 10, 2025, in Columbus, Georgia, at the age of 40.

Born in Montgomery, Alabama, Bam was the beloved son of Gwendolyn Tatum Pugh and the late Willie "Big" Pruitt, Jr. He accepted Christ at an early age and attended St. Benedict Catholic Church. Later, he occasionally worshipped alongside his father at The Body of Christ Church International, deepening his spiritual journey.

Bam was educated in the Muscogee County School System and attended Hardaway High School. Known for his ambition and entrepreneurial spirit, he founded his own lawn care service, earning respect as a hardworking provider and protector. Bam had a magnetic personality-stylish, confident, and always full of flavor. His radiant smile and generous heart left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

He embraced a healthy lifestyle, dedicating himself to fitness and adopting a vegan diet to honor and care for his body. Bam's commitment to wellness reflected his deep love for life and those around him.

He is survived by his devoted mother, Gwendolyn Tatum Pugh; his loving fiancée, Shamele Walton; his cherished children: son J'Vyon Tatum and daughters Taliyah Pinkston, Taylor Tatum, and Willow Tatum; his sister, Falana (Damaris) Brown; his brother, Willie Tatum; his twin cousins, Cortez and Markuell Tatum, who were like brothers to him; his bonus daughter, Santana Williams, and a host of adoring nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends-including his best friend, Bruce Anthony Daniel Christie.

Bam's legacy is one of love, laughter, strength, and style. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
