William Thoma Obituary
William G. Thoma, Jr. 79 of Bayville, NJ passed away on April 4, 2024. Born in Newark, NJ, he was raised in Bellville, NJ and settled to Bayville in 1967. Bill proudly served his country in the US Coast Guard. He retired from the Berkeley Township Board of Education where he oversaw maintenance department. He was a lifetime member of both the Bayville First Aid squad and the Pinewald Pioneer Fire Company. Bill enjoyed the outdoors, riding his motorcycle, target shooting, spending time with family and friends and time away with his wife in their second home, Lake of the Woods Campground in Narvon, PA.
Mr. Thoma is predeceased by his beloved wife, Maryann Thoma in 2021 and by his sister Margaret. Surviving are his 3 children William Thoma III and his wife Doreen, Wendy Yeager and her husband Areven and Kim Crevier and her husband Gary; six grandchildren, Ashley, Amber, Areven, Kelly, Jake and Owen; two great grandchildren, Skylar and Bentley; and his sisters Katherine May and Theresa Bonfante.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 from 4pm - 7:30pm at Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd. Bayville, NJ 08721. Fire Services will begin at 7:00pm in the funeral home and Honors will be at 7:15pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's name made to the Pinewald Pioneer Fire Co. P.O. Box 195, Bayville, NJ 08721 would be greatly appreciated.

Our sincere condolences, we are so very sorry for your loss. Bill was the Treasurer for Berkeley Hazmat when Greg was Chief and did a great job for us. We would see each other camping at Lake In Wood in PA and he would have his grandkids over. We talked about bikes, and he'd have his cigar. He was a good man and his loss will be sorely felt. Rest In Peace and Thank You for Your Service; to your Country, and to your Community.

Condolences to the Thoma family. I worked with Bill and Maryanne for many years at Berkeley Township Schools. Both of them were dedicated first responders but the also gave so much to the students and staff of Berkeley Township. As Bill's immediate supervisor I can attest to the thousands of hours he put in responding to snow storms and after hour emergencies, even on holidays and weekends. Such a nice, friendly, hard working man! RIP big guy!
