William Harold Thompson, 82 of Danville, WV, departed this life on October 25, 2025 at his residence.
He was born June 14, 1943 in Lick Creek, in the Scott District of Boone, WV the son of the late Elmer & Carrie Susan Thompson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gordon & Sarah Thompson and Rathburn & Minnie Thompson, his loving wife, Diane Jean Thompson, sister, Helen Ruth (Leonard) Stollings, brother, Wondel Earl Thompson and his father and mother-in-law, James "Bill" & Arella Webb.
William and his family were coon hunters from an early age. He loved to fish and socialize on his CB Radio as "Black Beard. William was a member of The North American Hunting Club.
Those left to cherish his memory include his two nieces, Patricia Ann (Clinton) Barker and Susan Michele (David) Hastings; great niece, Carrie Ann Fogleman; great nephew, Daniel Patrick Cummings II; and his best friend, Stevie Boggs.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Matthew and Brandy May, Roxy Regina Saddler, Jackie Hanna, family and friends and Dignity Hospice of Chapmanville for all your care.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm, Friday, October 31, 2025 at the Stanley Cemetery at Mud River, Danville, WV with Pastor Bill Nelson officiating.
Visitation will be on Friday, October 31, 2025 from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.
