William Tracy Obituary
Bill Tracy was first and foremost an artist musician and educator
He was proud of his 45 yr long career as both a performer and teacher. In 2002 he accepted the position of Head Coach of Opera Studies at Manhattan School of Music. He taught for 18 years.
A man of endless intellectual curiosity coupled with compassion and love for his family and friends. He was born in Hollywood CA and raised in Topanga Canyon CA. He attended Cal State Northridge for both his BFA and Masters. It was in college where he developed his interest and love of Opera.
He had a lengthy and illustrious career punctuated by many awards and acknowledgements.
He was one of a kind.

Bill was one of my dearest friends during our college years at Northridge. I have many wonderful memories of insightful coaching sessions, supportive audition accompaniment, and amazing dinners with friends at his home in Topanga Canyon. I think of him often. He will be greatly missed.

Just found out today of Bill´s passing. He was my coach for many years and even after i moved to Los Angeles, we managed to get together when i would come back to visit a couple of times a year..... until he was diagnosed with the Parkinsons. That diagnosis just devastated him. Anyway, he was a terrific coach and had a dry wit and i could always count on Bill for an accurate review of assorted Met productions and singers.
