William Trowbridge

William Trueman Trowbridge, Jr., age 84, passed away on December 2, 2025, at Novant Hospice Care, surrounded by family, in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Born on October 2, 1941, in Jacksonville, Florida, William was the son of the late Evelyn Lovejoy Trowbridge and William Trueman Trowbridge, Sr. He moved to North Carolina during his senior year of high school and graduated from Greensboro High School, Class of 1959. He later attended Guilford College, where he studied business management.
William began his career in the trucking industry with Yarborough Transfer Trucking in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where he developed his lifelong involvement in transportation. In 1965, he moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he purchased WM Martin and Freightways Trucking Company. Through his work, he built a reputation for dedication, integrity, and a strong work ethic.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Trueman Trowbridge, Sr. and Evelyn Lovejoy Trowbridge.
William is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Linda Pegram Trowbridge; his daughter, Holly Trowbridge Kurtz; his son-in-law, Walter Kurtz; his cherished grandchildren, Claire (25), William (21), and Colin (20); as well as his sister, Jeannie Trowbridge Baker, of Hickory, North Carolina, and her husband, Louis, and nephew, Kirk.
William had a deep love for animals, a compassion that reflected his kind and generous spirit and brought joy to those around him.
A Celebration of Life will be held after the New Year in 2026, with details announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mr. Trowbridge's name to the Humane Society of Charlotte or Novant Hospice, 324 North McDowell Street, Suite 200, Charlotte, NC 28204.
William will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his strong sense of responsibility, his love for animals, and the lasting legacy he leaves behind.
