William Cutler Tyler (“Bill”) of Sun City, Bluffton, SC passed away on January 9, 2026. Bill was born May 1, 1947 in Orange, NJ to Cutler Wasson Tyler and Gunvor Ohs Tyler. He was raised and continued to live in West Orange, NJ for 58 years before settling in Sun City 20 years ago. He kept his strong roots to New Jersey owning a second home in Lavallette until late 2024.
Bill met his wife Jackie Lattore at West Virginia Wesleyan College on a blind date and continued dating until that school year ended and left Wesleyan. He then served in the Army for a few years and was deployed to the Vietnam War. Their story could’ve ended there but they reconnected when he returned from Vietnam and were married the following year. They raised two beautiful and independent children. When the children left for college Bill and Jackie began their new life together of travel and adventures. Meeting new friends, seeing new places and experiencing the joy of life.
Bill worked for the phone company and retired after 27 years. He found a new passion becoming a handyman both in New Jersey then in Sun City. He loved helping people and spending time with his customers. Some became long time friends.
For people that really knew Bill, he was a “teddy bear “. He thought he was hiding his softness but everyone saw through his exterior. His humor and smile was what drew many people in.
In addition to his loving wife of 55 years, Bill is survived by his children, Audra Krebs and her husband Jeffrey of Naperville, Il, and son Ty Tyler of Salt Lake City. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Madelyn, Peter and Sam Krebs.
