William Joseph “Joey” Walraven, age 62 of Calhoun, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at AdventHealth Redmond.
Joey was born on August 8, 1963 in Floyd, County, son of the late Otto Walraven and Dorothy Mae Brown Walraven. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by: a brother, Tony Edwards; and two sisters, Pam Franklin and Janice Copeland. He loved watching football, especially supporting his favorite teams, the Atlanta Falcons and the University of Georgia Bulldogs. He also enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves. Joey was an avid outdoorsman and loved and cherished his family above all.
Joey is survived by: his wife, Sharon Holden Walraven; son, Weston Lee Walraven and his wife Samantha; two daughters, Stephanie Walraven and Christian Walraven Carter and her husband Colby; six grandchildren, Hudson Walraven, Hadley Jones, Carter Walraven, Josie Walraven, Bryson Carter, and BreiLynn Carter; brother, Walt Walraven and his wife Wanda; and his fur baby, Daisy.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 12, 2025 from 1 PM until 3 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, December 12, 2025 at 3 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Terry Timms and Kevin Phipps officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
Pallbearers serving include: Weston Walraven, Hudson Walraven, James Parker, Jacob Phipps, Colby Carter, Greg Brown, and Barry Walraven.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to help with final expenses.
