Family of Bill Waters, I was very sorry to read on the IaGenWeb -Winneshiek County site that Bill had passed away. I "met" Bill in 2010 when I started contributing to Allamakee, Clayton, Winneshiek, and other websites with obituaries and various historical information. Ever curious, Bill asked where I lived and when I told him I was born in Waukon, my husband grew up in Postville, and we lived in Elgin, we learned that we mutually knew a lot of our relatives and friends (even to the point that his father,Clem, had made a gun cabinet back in the 1970's for my father-in-law as a Father's Day gift from his 6 kids). Our last correspondence was about a milk bottle collection that came from the Waters Dairy in Postville. Someone asked Bill if he wanted the collection (he didn't) and wanted to know if I was interested in the collection because my parents had owned the Paul and Cass Waters building for many years (I didn't). I will miss his memories, knowledge, expertise, and friendship. More importantly, IaGenWeb will miss his dedication, work, and going the extra mile to make Winneshiek County and Howard County genealogy and history a great resource tool for the discovery of the past for the present and into future generations! Rest in peace Bill, your legacy will be remembered by many!
