William Watters Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Langkamp Funeral Chapel & Crematory on Jan. 23, 2026.
Bill Watters, 65, of Fremont, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

William Roy Watters Sr., son of Bernard "Wimp" and Audrey (Spratt) Watters, was born August 25, 1960, in Oskaloosa. While Bill was still young, the family moved to Clarinda, where he attended and graduated from Clarinda High School. He then enrolled at Iowa State University, where he earned his bachelor's degree, and later his doctorate in medicine, from the University of Iowa. He continued his residency at the University of Iowa until an injury forced him into a different career. Bill began his career as a licensed realtor, selling homes in Mahaska County. In 1994, Bill moved into the financial sector of car sales at Carriker Ford, where he enjoyed working with many patrons from Oskaloosa and surrounding areas.

Bill married Brenda Wissler, and to this union, two children were born; they later divorced. Bill later married Karen Dachenbach and had two children; they later divorced.

Bill enjoyed watching a good western show and keeping up with the latest technology; this was how he often communicated with his children, and he continued learning to navigate and use it. Bill never missed an opportunity to crack a joke, sarcastic or not. Spending time with family, his children, grandchildren, and even the "grand-pups", was his favorite thing to do.

Bill's family includes his four children: William (Rebecca) Watters Jr. of Oskaloosa; Eva (Jeff Abhold) Watters of Yakima, WA; Jennifer (Riley) Calhoun of Oskaloosa; and Paige (Jacob) Spears of Albia, IA; his four grandchildren: Makayla Morse, Lana Watters, Leahanna Watters, and Emerson Calhoun; as well as several cousins, that were raised as siblings.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, two uncles, grandparents, and many friends and acquaintances.

Funeral services for Bill will take place at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Langkamp Funeral Chapel with Pastors Robert and Molly Goodrich officiating.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 26, 2026, at Langkamp Funeral Chapel, with the family present from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. to greet relatives and friends. Internment will take place at White Oak Cemetery following the service. Memorials may be made to William Watters Jr. and will be designated at a later date.
