Mr. William "David" West

Mr. William David West, age 63, went home to be with the Lord in Augusta, Georgia, on Tuesday,

February 24, 2026, after a three-and-a-half-year battle with kidney cancer. He was surrounded

by his family - his wife of 43 years, Gina; his loving children, Amanda, Chad (Amy), Delayna

(Colton), and Kaitlyn; and his adoring grandchildren, Callie, Ellie, Callum, and Isaiah.

David was born on March 21, 1962, to the late William and Judy West. For more than 35 years,

he faithfully gave his life to Christian ministry. He served five years as Minister of Music at

Heritage Baptist Church in Meriden, Connecticut. He later moved to Fairmont, West Virginia,

where he became Minister of Music at Fellowship Baptist Church and Principal of Calvary

Christian School.

During his 33 years of service in Fairmont, David poured his life into students, families, and

church members. A gifted musician, he played the saxophone, composed music, led choirs and

congregations in worship, and taught countless students to love music. He spent decades

mentoring young people and serving wherever the Lord called him. His ministry was not simply

a profession - it was his calling.

Beyond the pulpit and classroom, David was steady, faithful, and always present for his family.

He was known for his "dad jokes," his calm strength, and his loving heart. He was a devoted

husband, a constant and supportive father, and a proud, affectionate grandfather.

After moving to Augusta, Georgia, he became a faithful member of Lakeside Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, at Lakeside Baptist Church

in Beech Island, South Carolina, with Pastor Tad Marshall officiating. A visitation will be held

that morning from 12:00–2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Graniteville,

South Carolina.
