William Robert Wheeler

William Robert Wheeler, 64, of Spotsylvania, passed away on January 19, 2026.

William was a devoted family man who found his greatest joy in time spent with those he loved, especially his grandchildren, whom he delighted in spoiling every chance he got. He proudly retired from Fort A.P. Hill and served his community for many years as an assistant fire chief and a lifetime member of the Spotsylvania Volunteer Fire Department.

William spent most of his working life as a truck driver, a career that suited his strong work ethic and love of the open road. Outside of work, he enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and a member of the Flat Top Hunt Club. He was also a proud member of the Eagles and Moose Lodge, where he could often be found enjoying live music in the company of friends.

William loved watching baseball, sharing stories, and making memories with family and friends. He will be remembered for his dedication, generosity, and the quiet pride he took in a life well lived.

William is survived by his children, Dustin Wheeler (Faith), Nathan Wheeler (Jessica), and Amanda Evans (Justin); grandchildren Adalynn, Alayna, and Reed; sister Tina Burkholder (Gary); and nephews Cory Burkholder, Kevin Burkholder, and Christopher Burkholder.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carter and Frances Wheeler; and brother Ryan Wheeler.

A service will be held at 9 a.m. on Friday, January 23, 2026, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
