On October 4, 2025, William (Bill) J. Whelan, 72, of Silver Spring, Maryland passed away. He was born in 1953 to Wallace F. and Alice K. Whelan. Bill was a 1971 graduate of Archbishop John Carroll High School and retired in 2002 from Verizon. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Debra Bond Whelan, sisters, Pat Whelan, Mary Chew (Bill), Christine Kindschuh (Jeff) and sister-in-law Barbara Biancone. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and dear lifelong friends. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Timothy Whelan and brother-in-law Tim Durkin.
Visitation will be on Monday, October 13 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Silver Spring, Maryland followed by a Mass of the Christian Burial at 11:00 am. A luncheon reception will immediately follow at the Clubhouse Grille in Clubhouse I in Leisure World. Interment will be private at a later date.
