Whitaker
BOONVILLE – Mr. William Wayne Whitaker passed away Thursday, December 4, 2025. He was born April 26, 1957 in Yadkin County to the late William D. “Bill” Whitaker and Shirley Todd Whitaker. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his uncles, Ray Whitaker, Verne Harrison, Delma Todd, Lincoln Todd, Wilbur Todd, Walden Todd, Charles Miller; and by aunts, Ruth Todd, Dot Todd, Phyllis Todd, and Melba Miller. Those left to cherish Wayne’s memory are his beloved sister, Clara Jane Whitaker; aunts, Patty W. Harrison, Eva Whitaker, Jacki Todd, Betty Todd, and several special cousins and friends. Wayne graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering. He later earned his Masters in Engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and then received his Professional Engineer License. He had a career he loved with Duke Energy for over 30 years, traveling around the world several times. He had a heart of gold and dearly loved his little sister, family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His sister would like to express her sincere appreciation to the Yadkin County Sheriffs Office, Sheriff Nick Smitherman, and Yadkin County Emergency Responders. Also to all of the family and friends for the calls, texts, visits, food, and prayers. A very special Thank You to Candus Lineberry, Rafael Trabelsi, Paul Williams, and Cindy Benton for all their love and support during this difficult time. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:30 PM Saturday, December 13, 2025 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. A Memorial Service will follow the visitation at 4 PM Saturday at Center Global Methodist Church by Pastor Austin Caviness officiating. Burial will follow in the Center Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Center Global Methodist Church, 1400 Center Road, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
