Pastor Roy E. Flynt, 94, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2026. He was born May 8, 1931 in Forsyth County to the late Robert Ray Flynt and Beulah Mae Hill Flynt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Paula Y. Chamblee; eight brothers; and two sisters. Mr. Flynt was a Baptist minister, having pastored and preached for over 60 years. His great understanding of the bible enabled him to serve as a principle at Victory Christian Day School and teach at Virginia Bible College. He was very active in his church where he taught Sunday School. He retired from People's Life Insurance Company. Roy is a veteran of the US Airforce, serving during the Korean war. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Ramona A. Flynt; children, Stephen Flynt of Yadkinville, Chris Flynt of Pfafftown, and Elizabeth (Tim) Flynt Lockett of Dobson; grandchildren, Amber (Jared) Lockett George of Bluefield, W.V., Travis Lockett of Pfafftown; great-grandchildren, Benji and Marli of Bluefield, W.V.; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday, February 6, 2026, from 1 until 2 p.m., at Turners Creek Baptist Church. His funeral service will follow the visitation at 2 p.m., at the church, with Rev. Scott Welch officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by Yadkin VFW Post #10346. Memorials may be made to Blind Power Company at blindpowercompany.org.

We are sending our condolences to Ms. Mona, and Steve, Chris, Elizabeth, and the family. He was definitely a well-loved man of God. He married Steve and I back at Avalon Hills Baptist in 1973! He will be missed by many. May God comfort you all, as we will see him again. He is with Jesus now

The Twiddy family and I are praying for comfort for each family member during this time. Pastor Flynt gave me my first opportunity to preach at Avalon Hills Baptist Church in Virginia Beach while I was in school. We all have the deepest respect for this great man of God.
