Obituary published on Legacy.com by C. C. Carter Funeral Home, Inc. - Newport News on Oct. 15, 2025.
Mr. William Linwood Arthur DuPree White was born on August 18, 1990 in
Newport News, Virginia to mother Kathleen Kay White and his late father Thomas M. White, Jr. He departed this earth on Monday, October 13, 2025 at age 35.
William was born and raised in
Newport News, Virginia. He attended Mary Passage Middle School, and graduated from Denbigh High School. Growing up, William loved cars, video games, sports, and sneakers. He could often be found at his grandma's house playing video games, jumping on the trampoline and playing basketball with his cousins and friends. William was known affectionately as just Will and earned the nicknames
"Big Will," "Chill Will" and "Chill" for his laidback demeanor.
As a young child, Will participated in karate and played football with Oyster Point Football Association. He had a nice singing voice and sang in the children's choir at the Gospel Spreading Church of God. Will ushered for a period at the church, and was instrumental in gathering his friends to assist his mother Kay in organizing church dinners for several years. Will also assisted with the church's school supply giveaways.
He was always a jokester, and could often be found making everyone around him laugh.
When Will became an adult, he worked at several jobs, earning management positions. He worked as a Howmet Castings in Hampton, and worked his way up to a role managing more than a dozen employees. For years, Will worked at Wheelabrator in Portsmouth. He also worked at the UPS warehouse and the Walmart distribution center. Most recently, Will served as a terminal operator for Kinder Morgan in Newport News.
Will's favorite football team in adulthood was the Kansas City Chiefs, but in his youth, he liked the Seattle Seahawks. He enjoyed hanging out with his friends and loved spending time with his family, especially during the holidays. And one thing about him, he kept a fresh haircut. Will took pride in his appearance, enjoyed shopping, and always took care to put together a well-coordinated outfit. He especially loved a fresh pair of Nike or Jordan sneakers.
Will was thoughtful and was willing to help when he could. Will had dreams, and spoke about organizing a "cousins trip" in the future. He had many longtime friends and loved ones. He loved his mother very much and called her his Angel.
Will is survived by his beloved mother, Kathleen Kay White, his siblings McArthur "Mack" Williams, Christine White, Thomas "Malik" White, Kimberle James, Kim Walker, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
It is the desire of the White family that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
