William Wilbert Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Legacy Funeral Center - Schoppenhorst Chapel on Mar. 13, 2026.
William Charles "Fro" Wilbert Jr., 72, of Mammoth Cave, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at home on March 11, 2026. He was born on February 25, 1954, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late William Charles Wilbert Sr. and Ida Mae Wilbert. Known to many friends and family by his nickname "Fro,"

William had a personality that was hard to forget-often mocking in humor and famously stubborn in his ways. William worked for many years as a drywall hanger and was known for his strong work ethic and willingness to help others. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, riding four-wheelers, working on cars, and spending time outdoors. He especially valued the time he spent with his family and those closest to him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Miller, and his brothers, Bernie Wilbert and Stevie Wilbert. He is survived by his longtime companion of 44 years, Therese Willoughby; his children, Joshua Willoughby (Billie Jo), Andrew Willoughby (Vanessa Ann), and Vanessa Willoughby (Brandon); his beloved grandchildren, Camron, ZoeAnn, Carissa, Lucas, Bryleigh, and Adeline; his sisters, Annie Goodman, Laura Wilbert, and Lisa Wilbert; and his brother, James Wilbert.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 18 from 1 – 7 PM at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, 1832 W. Market St., Louisville, Kentucky 40203 and a funeral service will take place at the funeral on Thursday, March 19 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Cave Hill Cemetery, 701 Baxter Avenue, Louisville, Kentucky 40204. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in William's memory. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
