William James "Bill" Wilhelm

1928 - 2025

William (Bill) Wilhelm, 96, of Machipongo, Virginia, passed away on July 24, 2025, just short of his 97th birthday, after a fall at home. Bill was born in Palmerton, Pennsylvania to William Herman and Edith James Wilhelm. He attended Penn State University after graduating from East Mauch Chunk High School and served in the U.S. Army. Bill married Anna Stoffa and worked in various capacities at the Bethlehem Steel Sparrows Point plant until he retired. He enjoyed fishing, making fishing lures, golfing, raising spring onions, and sudoku puzzles. He was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran and New Light Lutheran churches in Dundalk. Bill was predeceased by his wife, Anna Stoffa Wilhelm, sons William M. Wilhelm and Bruce A. Wilhelm and sister Rene Keating. He is survived by his sister Jean Heiney, son Phillip and his wife Yvonne (Dalmaso) Wilhelm, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Griffiths Funeral Home in Tamaqua, PA on September 26, followed by interment in Summit Hill, PA.
