William Wilson Sr. (AKA. Papa), a beloved figure in his community, a devoted father, husband, grandfather, brother, and a friend who offered unwavering support and a listening ear to all who knew him, passed away on February 20th, 2024, surrounded by family. A proud Vietnam War veteran, his love for his country was evident. He is survived by his spouse, Deania Wilson, and his children: Michelle Rios (Roberto (Rob) Rios), William (Billy) Wilson Jr. (Elizabeth (Liz) Wilson), Michael Wilson (Elizabeth (Beth) Wilson), and Deana Broerman-Foster (Chris Broerman-Foster).

William was known for his welcoming spirit, initially opening his home and yard to neighborhood children. Later, as his children grew, he extended that warmth to birds and squirrels he loved watching from his window. William found enjoyment in his work at Anderson Township Road Maintenance. His playful side was unmistakable, as he delighted local children by adorning his snow plow and truck with lights during winter. His Christmas light displays were a source of joy every year, a testament to his belief in spreading cheer, especially for the young. William was an avid sportsman in his younger years, particularly enjoying softball. He also cherished the outdoors, finding peace and enjoyment in hunting and fishing. William was an avid sports fan, enjoying the pure competitiveness of youth and college leagues. Additionally, he possessed a green thumb, even earning recognition with a 1993 award from the Anderson Township Board of Trustees for his gardening skills. There was a consistent calm about him, a quality he carried with him until his dying days.

He was predeceased by his parents, Elizabeth Wilson and Roy Wilson. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren: Jasmine Rios, Selina Rios, Xavier Rios, Kylie Gates, Salem Wilson, Noah DesMarais, Logan Broerman-Foster, and Kellan Broerman-Foster. And many doggies, current and past.

Family will receive friends Friday, March 1st, 2024, at 11:00 am for a public visitation, followed by a funeral service at 1:00pm, all at Moore Family Funeral Homes in Newtown: 6708 Main St., Newtown, OH, 45244.
