With deep regret, we announce the peaceful passing of William R. Wolter at the age of 81 on Monday, October 1, 2024, at 09:05 MST.
William was born in Melrose Park Cook County, IL, on November 22, 1942. After graduating from Dundee High School, he served honorably in the United States Army, completing three tours in Vietnam. On June 30, 1972, William married Phu Wolter (Doung) and subsequently retired from the United States Army at Fort Bliss, TX in 1984 after 22 years of dedicated service. William and his family made El Paso, TX their home until his passing.
He enjoyed going for walks with his dogs and indulging in military literature. William is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Phu D. Wolter, and his two sons, Patrick and Jimmy Wolter. His two grandkids are Zachary and Jacob Wolter.
Visitation will be from 9:00am - 1:00pm with a Vigil/Rosary to begin at 11:00am on Friday, October 18, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Home - Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Dr. Committal Service with Military Honors to follow at 1:30pm on Friday, October 18, 2024 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave.
