Tragically, his mother passed, and his father married Mary Louise. On February 5, 2025, Winkey peacefully transitioned from this life to be with the Lord, surrounded by his family. Known lovingly as "Winkey" by friends and family, he was raised by his Virginia grandparents and remembered by his siblings as fun and mischievous. As a young man, he relocated to Bridgeport, Connecticut, where he worked for several years and later retired from the Peterson Recycling Plant. Winkey was an honorable man who strongly believed in and spoke the truth. One of his favorite quotes was by Malcolm X: "You cannot separate peace from freedom because no one can be at peace unless he has his freedom." Another favorite Quote Is by Jackie Hill Perry: "Tell the truth and shame the Devil." Winkey was well known for enjoying the simple things in life. He loved riding around Bridgeport and taking in the sights, especially near the Dasis store on Connecticut Avenue. He also enjoyed spending time at home watching his favorite television show, "The Steve Harvey Show."
His brothers predeceased him Isaac "Leroy" Womack, James Grassaway, Raymond "Butch" Perkins, and Amar "Clement" Womack. He is also predeceased by his sister-in-law Mary Ann Womack. He leaves behinds his children who are left to cherish his memories, Tracy Womack, Buffalo, New York, and Ronald "Winkey" Barksdale, Halifax, Virginia Winkey's brothers, Robert Womack, Trenton Womack, and Hank Womack, will greatly miss their older brother.
