William Robert "Bob" Wright, 91, of Asheboro, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro, after several years of declining health.
Born on September 14, 1934, in Randolph County, NC, Bob was the son of the late Millard Filmore Wright and Dora Alice Shaw Wright. He graduated from Elon University and served in the Strategic Air Command of the US Air Force during the Korean War. He married Doris Gaddis in 1959. Bob was a CPA, who did public and private accounting for many years and retired from Pugh Oil Company as their comptroller.
Bob was a member of the Asheboro Kiwanis Club and was presented with the Legion of Honor award for serving 50 years. He always enjoyed working Pancake Day and the concessions at McCrary Park with the Kiwanis club. Golfing was Bob's favorite pass time, he played regularly up until the last few years.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his son, David Wright; sister, Lillian Bobo; and brother-in-law, Angus Bobo.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Doris Gaddis Wright; daughter, Elizabeth Wright; grandchildren, Mitchell Hall, Lauren Hall; and nephew, John Bobo (Joan).
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:30 p.m. Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, NC. A private service will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery.
