William “Ray” York, 84, of Yadkinville, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at his home. Ray was born on December 22, 1940 to the late Luther Clarence York and Celia Mae Adams York.
Ray enjoyed spending as much time as he could outdoors. In the last few years, he especially enjoyed being out on his lawnmower.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his siblings, Jesse York, Leo York and Annice Lou York.
Those left to cherish Ray’s memory include his wife of nearly 64 years, Mary Pinnix York, children, Timothy York and Tammy York (Joe Reece), special niece who helped care for him, Ruth Ann Baity and numerous other nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thanks to Phil Quick for his care and help for Ray and his caregivers who so greatly helped him, Sandra Tarter, Kristen Snow and Regina Williams.
The family will visit with friends on Tuesday, March 18, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 PM with Rev. Jimmy Lancaster officiating. Burial will follow in Yadkin Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice at PO Box 325, Dobson, NC 27017; Hugh Chatham Home Health at P.O. Box 560, 180 Parkwood Drive, Elkin, NC 28621; or to Huntsville Baptist Church at 4901 Courtney-Huntsville Rd, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
