Mr. William Dean Young, age 93, of Fairmount, Georgia, entered into his eternal rest on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at The Oaks of Fairmount, PCH.

Dean was born December 1, 1931, in Gordon County, Georgia, the son of the late Onice and Mable Moss Young. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of sixty-six years, Delaine West Young, who passed away May 21, 2020, his sister, Geneva "Gee" West, and brother-in-law, J.E. "Jack" Flood.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Dean's life was defined by his love for his family and his tireless work ethic. A farmer, carpenter, saw miller, and jack of all trades, Dean found joy in the value of hard work and took pride in helping others. He never met a stranger, and his gift for conversation and fellowship made him a friend to all who knew him. Dean faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, a service he carried with quiet pride. He was a faithful servant of the Lord as the oldest member and oldest deacon of Pleasant Grove (Ryo) Baptist Church, where his example of faith and service continues to inspire.

He is survived by his daughters, Cherie and Ellis Payne, Kellie and Barry Benson; sons, Danny and Candace Young, Butch and Willine Young, Johnny and Annalisa Young, Ricky and Darlene Young, and Tim Young, all of Fairmount, GA; grandchildren, Gregory Young, Andrew Payne, Cody and Holly Young, Dylan and Ashley Young, Matthew Payne, Joshua and Hannah Young, Connor Young, Luke and Christy Benson, Will Benson, Adam and Angel Baser, Nicole and Larry Warnick, Morgan Young, Cati and Kyle Tracey, Zane Firle, Jordan Gilbert, Jonathan Childers and Zachery Childers; nineteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Jo Flood of Chatsworth, GA, Shirley Townsend of Blairsville, GA; brother-in-law, Raymond West of Fairmount, GA; brothers, Josh and Ann Young of Fairmount, GA, Wayne and Trixie Young of Calhoun, GA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Herman and Lorene Garland of Anderson, SC; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. William Dean Young will be held Thursday, August 21, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Grove (Ryo) Baptist Church with Reverend Jeremy Southers, Reverend Ronnie Howard, and Reverend Lamar Beason officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife in the church cemetery, with his grandsons honored to serve as pallbearers. Military graveside honors will be provided by the Dalton American Legion Post #112.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Fairmount Chapel on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., and on Thursday beginning at 12:00 p.m. at the church until the service hour.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to The Oaks of Fairmount and to Tapestry Hospice for the compassionate care given to Dean.
