Chesapeake, VA – Willie Lee Ames, born July 18, 1968, in Brooklyn, New York, passed away on December 8, 2025, in Chesapeake, Virginia, at the age of 57.

Willie lived a life marked by challenge, resilience, and a spirit that never lost its sense of humor. Those who spent time with him knew him as someone who loved to joke, tell stories, and make people laugh. He had a natural ability to lighten the room and connect with others through wit, warmth, and conversation.

Later in life, Willie found meaning and purpose through his conversion to Islam. His faith became an important part of his journey, offering him reflection, peace, and a renewed sense of direction. It was a path he embraced sincerely and one that helped shape who he was in his final years.

Willie was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Shirley Ann Hawkins, and his brothers George Ames, Jr., Kevin Ames, and Earl Ames.

He leaves behind a loving family, including his father, George William Ames, and bonus mother, Ollie Ames; his brothers Robert Bryant, Isaac Hart, and Rodney Ames; his sisters Danielle McQueen, Angela Tiney, Wanda Brown, Lisa Luke, and Abby Dottin; and his children Aisha Kingsberry, Erica Ames, Timothy Harrington, Willie Ames, Jr., and his youngest, Denzel Scott, and close friend Harold Livingston, who will forever hold his memory dear.

Willie will be remembered for his humor, his larger-than-life personality, and the humanity he shared with those who knew him. His story, though complex, is one of perseverance, laughter, and a man who continued to seek meaning and connection throughout his life.

The Cremation Society of Virginia, Chesapeake Office, is assisting the family during this difficult time. Friends and family are invited to share their condolences and memories online at www.vacremationsociety.com.

Willie will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
