Willie Fred Head Jr.

Wille Fred Head, Jr. was born on April 11, 1950, in Newnan, Georgia, to the parents of the late Willie Fred Head and Thelma B. Sumerlin Head. He was the firstborn of 10 children, seven boys and three girls. It was said that he was given the nickname "Junebug" by one of his uncles. As he got older, he told his family and friends to call him "Bug" because Junebug was a child's name.

Bug departed this life for his heavenly home on Wednesday night, January 21, 2026, surrounded by his loving family and close friends at Piedmont Newnan Hospital.

Bug started his educational journey in the Fulton County Schools System and eventually joined the Job Corps of Atlanta, where he learned carpentry skills. He worked for many years as a Master Carpenter under the supervision and leadership of the late Rev. Willie J.

Johnson. This allowed him to work for many major building companies in Atlanta and provided him with opportunities to work on many of the high-rise buildings built from 1970 to the early 2000S.

While working with the late Rev. Johnson and many of the Johnson men, Bug said they would sing gospel songs and work all day. This is where his faith, love, and knowledge of the Lord grew. He later became a member of St. Smyrna Baptist Church and he became a faithful member of the choir for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Willie F. Head and Mrs. Thelma B. Head, two brothers, Larry Head and Ray Charles Head, and a nephew, Andre Head.

Willie "Bug" Head, leaves to cherish his memories, 4 children, two daughters, Shelia (Dexter) Shealey and Tominka Thrash; two sons, Jarvis (Montessa) Head and Cordele (Jessica) Head; three sisters, Cherry Leavell, Bonnie Cruver and Sharon (Ronald) Johnson); four brothers; Bobby Lee (Georgia) Head, Anthony (Ulander) Head, Roger Head, and Terry Head; grandchildren Keianna, LaNya, Joshua, Jonah, Johana, Jarquavious, Malaysia, Paris, Cortavious, Serenity, Ar'miah, Haiven, Xavier, Makayla, Measia, Mondarius and Shemar; and one great granddaughter Kalynn; and 28 nieces and nephews, and many relatives and friends.
