Willie Edgar Newton, 81, of Daphne, Alabama, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025. Born in Dahlgren, VA, he was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran and retired General Foreman from the Library of Congress after decades of dedicated service.
A man of quiet strength, integrity, and deep faith, Willie was known for his warm heart, sharp wit, and love for family.
The righteous man walks in his integrity; his children are blessed after him. - Proverbs 20:7
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Cre M. Newton; son Kelvin McGrue Newton (Gloria); nephew-son Darrell Martin; granddaughters Chanelle Kiah, Gabriela and Camila McGrue Newton; great grandson, Ste Copson; bonus daughter Lynn Young; goddaughters Rachell Hill and Venise Gooding; siblings Marjorie Banks and Lenora Battle; and a host of extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings James Newton, Myrtle "Teenie" Newton, Collette Ashton, and Barbara Jean Purdie.
A memorial service will be held noon, Friday, October 3, 2025, Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 902 Daphne Ave, Daphne, AL 36527.
