**Obituary for Willie B. Powell**

Willie B. Powell, a beloved resident of Stone Mountain, Georgia, peacefully passed away on Saturday, December 6th, 2025, just a day shy of his 83rd birthday. Born on December 7th, 1942, in Hawkinsville, Georgia, Willie was known for his resilience, kindness, and unyielding dedication to his family, community, and work.

Willie dedicated 43 years of his life as a lineman at OFS Optic Fiber Solutions in Norcross, Georgia, where he was esteemed by his coworkers for his hard work and unwavering commitment. He was a man who valued every detail of his craft and was respected and loved by all who worked alongside him.

For Willie, family was the cornerstone of his existence. He is survived by his loving brother, Joe Louis Powell of Fairburn, Georgia, and his cherished sister, Lillian I. Powell of Decatur, Georgia. Willie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Josie M., his father, Eddie B. Powell, and his mother, Mary L.

A man of deep faith, Willie was an active member of his church and community. His legacy of love and kindness will be celebrated at his Celebration of Life on Monday, December 15, 2025, at 11:00 am at Rainbow Park Baptist Church, 2941 Columbia Drive, Decatur, GA 30034. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the church at 10:00 am to pay their respects and celebrate a life well-lived.

Following the service, Willie will be laid to rest at Mellwood Cemetery, 5170 E. Ponce De Leon Ave., Stone Mountain, GA 30083. A repast will be held in his memory at the Magnolia Room Cafeteria, 4450 Hugh Howell Rd., Tucker, Georgia 30084, where friends and family can gather to share stories and memories of a truly remarkable man.
