Willie Roger Reeves' Story
August 16, 1945 – March 27, 2026
Willie Roger Reeves, known to friends and family as Roger and affectionately nicknamed "Jim Hogan," was a man who lived life with love, laughter, and a paintbrush in one hand and a golf club in the other. Born on August 16, 1945, in
Atlanta, Georgia, Roger was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Deborah L. Banks Reeves; his parents, Hattie Mae and Wilbur Reeves; and his sisters, Delores Wynne, Florine Lewis-Bey, Joanne Reeves, and Josephine Carmichael.
Roger leaves behind a legacy of love through his children: daughter Mia S. Banks and sons William (Audrey), Christopher (Teresa), Orris (Raven), and Gerry Reeves. He is also survived by his brother, Wilbur "Tony" Reeves; 17 loving grandchildren and 7 cherished great-grandchildren, each of whom brought joy to his life; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family who will cherish his memory.
Roger was a hardworking and talented painter who spent many years painting homes with pride, dedication, and a personal touch. He attended Booker T. Washington High School in
Atlanta, Georgia and carried that foundation of hard work with him throughout his life. As a self-employed painter and a primary subcontractor for Gene's Plumbing Service Inc., he built a reputation for doing things the right way and taking pride in every job. Some of his fondest memories were painting alongside his sons, teaching them the value of hard work while sharing laughter and life lessons along the way.
When he wasn't painting, Roger could often be found on the golf course, where the game was only part of the joy. He cherished the friendships, laughter, and camaraderie it brought. He loved watching his children play sports, always cheering the loudest from the sidelines, and found happiness in riding around College Park, checking in on family, friends, and anyone who needed a smile or a kind word.
Known for his caring, loving, and supportive nature, Roger had a special way of making everyone feel important, valued, and remembered. Whether through a game of golf, a family gathering, or a simple visit, his presence brought warmth and light to those around him.
Though he may no longer be with us in person, the love, laughter, and memories he shared will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His legacy will continue through the lives he touched and the family he cherished so deeply.
