Willie Tubertini, Jr.

Friends and family welcome visitors for a visitation at 10:00, with a decade of the Rosary at 10:45, and a Memorial Mass at 11:00 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Greenville, MS, on Saturday, November 22, 2025, in honor of Willie Tubertini, Jr.

Willie Tubertini, Jr., 100, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Greenville, Mississippi, on November 7, 2025.

Willie was born July 24, 1925, in Shelby, Mississippi, to Willie and Lucy (Landi) Tubertini. He graduated from Shelby High School in 1943, then attended Holmes Junior College (Goodman) and Hinds Junior College (Raymond). Before finishing college, Willie enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on October 21, 1943, in Jackson, Mississippi. By February 1944 he was serving in the Pacific Theater, where he remained until February 1946. A qualified rifle marksman, he saw combat at Peleliu and Okinawa and was wounded in action on September 15, 1944. He later served in the Occupation of China and received the Purple Heart Medal on December 4, 1945. He was honorably discharged at Camp Lejeune on February 15, 1946.

Once he returned home, he then met the love of his life. On August 25, 1951, he married Ina Ruth Stewart, and together they built a life in Greenville. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

For more than 50 years, Willie worked at Baird & Company in Greenville-steady, dependable, and proud of a job done right. Willie was also inducted as a Third Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus and was a social member of the Italian Club. When he wasn't with family, you might find him at the Greenville Municipal Golf Course enjoying a round or two, visiting with friends at the Italian Club, or having a cup of coffee at The Sports Parlor.

Willie is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 43 years, Ina Stewart Tubertini (1994); his eldest son, Michael William Tubertini (2014); his brothers Jimmy Tubertini and Alex Tubertini; and his sister, Stella Tubertini Fioranelli.

He is survived by his children Billy Tubertini of Greenville, MS; Doug Tubertini and his wife Debbie of Madison, MS; and Annette Tubertini Butler and her husband Martin of Clinton, MS; grandchildren-Karla Tubertini (Stan Gallimore), Meagan Tubertini Wells (Richard), Ashley Tubertini, Bailey Tubertini (Anaston), Landi Butler, Amy Tubertini Davis (Jeffrey), Jared Tubertini, and Emily Grace Tubertini-and six great-grandchildren: Will and Molly Heslep; Mary Michael (Mia) Gallimore; Presley and Emery Davis; and Lorenzo Tubertini.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (Greenville, MS).

His ashes will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

Honorary pallbearers: Charles Albergast; Gary Fioranelli; George Fioranelli; Wayne Fioranelli; Mark Freeman; Mark Hazard; Terry Melton; Todd Olmi; Elijah Phillips; Bobby Stewart; Jerry Stewart; Harold Donald Jr.; Victor Donald; David Tubertini and Greg Tubertini.
