Betty Joan Shelton Tubertini, formerly of Greenville, passed away in Starkville on September 21, 2024. She was born on July 17, 1936 as the only child of Hilliard and Oda Shelton.
Joan graduated from Greenville High School in 1954. The filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille chose her as one of the top 5 beauties her senior year. Joan had a 43-year career as an Executive Secretary for Greenville Mills/U.S. Axminster until her retirement and move to Starkville. She sang in the church choir in Greenville for many years, even before joining the church. She loved her social groups and was a member of P.E.O., Starkville Newcomers, and bunco groups.
Joan is survived by her only child, Lainie Anthony (Marc) and granddaughter Emily of Starkville, granddaughter Jamie of Mobile, AL, and, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Starkville on Wednesday, September 25th at 12:30-2:00 with the funeral mass to follow. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Starkville or St. Joseph Catholic Church in Greenville.
